What is Autodesk HSMWorks Ultimate?
HSMWorks Ultimate is an integrated CAM programming solution embedded directly within SolidWorks. It bridges design and manufacturing with 2.5-axis to simultaneous 5-axis milling, multi-axis turning, and mill-turn capabilities for desktop CNC workflows targeting design engineers and CNC programmers.
Ultimate edition extends standard milling with simultaneous multi-axis positioning, advanced turning operations, and complete mill-turn machining for independent machine shops, prototype facilities, and tooling designers. Eliminate software switching by generating production-ready G-code directly within your SolidWorks assembly and part models.
Why Buy HSMWorks Ultimate from Prosoftstore?
We offer permanent HSMWorks Ultimate activation with one-time purchase - professional CAM software for CNC programmers and design engineers without subscription fees. Full functionality included: multi-axis toolpath generation, adaptive clearing roughing, complete turning and mill-turn operations, and integrated machine simulation for collision detection - all within your existing SolidWorks environment.
Suitable for freelance design work, small job shops, independent tooling production, prototype machining facilities, and skill development for desktop manufacturing workflows.

From Toolpaths to Machine-Specific NC
Inside the SOLIDWORKS workflow, HSMWorks Ultimate covers 2.5- and 3-axis milling, 3+2 and simultaneous 5-axis milling, turning and mill-turn. Adaptive roughing, stock simulation, tool libraries and verification support the programming work around those operations.
The CPS post is where the output becomes machine-specific. It translates HSMWorks toolpaths into the NC expected by a controller, so the post must match the target machine/controller and customized output should be tested before production.
One current limitation remains separate from that toolpath workflow: HSMWorks does not support full machine simulation for lathes or turn/mill machines. Toolpath and stock verification are still distinct CAM checks.
A New CNC Can Make the Post the Fit Check
If you already design in SOLIDWORKS and prefer HSMWorks for CAM, a new or less-common 4-axis CNC can shift the fit question from toolpath capability to machine output. In that buyer state, the familiar CAD/CAM workflow can still fit, but post availability or a post that will not work with the new machine becomes the blocker.
For 4/5-axis output, HSMWorks can use a machine configuration or kinematics defined in the post. Packaged .cpsz downloads for Inventor/HSMWorks can contain both the selected post and a machine configuration. Confirm the controller/post match, rotary axes and limits, then test edited or custom output on non-production work before using it in production.
Your SOLIDWORKS Year Narrows the Sold Builds
Start with the lowest-priced sold build that supports both your SOLIDWORKS year and Windows version. Move higher only when an exact release delta changes the decision. When compatible builds cost the same, use the verified generation delta to break the tie.
| SOLIDWORKS year | Eligible sold HSMWorks builds | Baseline / direct match | Decision delta |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 2027 $75 | 2027 $75 | Direct match only. HSMWorks 2027 requires Windows 11. |
| 2025 | 2027 $75; 2026 $65 | 2026 $65 | Move to 2027 only on Windows 11 when the 2027 Parallel/setup-sheet fix set or the 2027 build itself is required; Windows 10 keeps 2026. |
| 2024 | 2027 $75; 2026 $65; 2025.1 $60 | 2025.1 $60 | 2025.1 already contains the broad 2025 machining/stability cluster. 2026 adds security/HSM Edit maintenance; 2027 adds the smaller 2027 fix set and requires Windows 11. |
| 2023 | 2026 $65; 2025.1 $60; 2024.1 $55 | 2024.1 $55 | Choose 2025.1 for the 2025 machining/stability cluster; choose 2026 for its later security/HSM Edit maintenance. |
| 2022 | 2025.1 $60; 2024.1 $55; 2023.2.1 $50; 2022.3 $45 | 2022.3 $45 | 2022.3 is the $45 baseline. 2025.1 is the first higher-priced option here tied to the documented 2025 machining/stability cluster; 2023.2.1 and 2024.1 sit between them as maintenance/fix generations. |
| 2021 | 2024.1 $55; 2023.2.1 $50; 2022.3 $45; 2021.3.1 $45 | 2022.3 $45 | At the same $45 price, 2022.3 carries the 2022 .cpsz/HSM Edit generation advantage; 2021.3.1 is the older baseline generation. |
| 2020 | 2023.2.1 $50; 2022.3 $45; 2021.3.1 $45 | 2022.3 $45 | At the same $45 price, 2022.3 carries the 2022 .cpsz/HSM Edit generation advantage. The fixed 2023.2.1 build costs $50, and its notable point-release difference is the save-data correction already included in that build. |
| 2019 | 2021.3.1 $45 | 2021.3.1 $45 | Direct match only: it is the current sold build whose official host range includes SOLIDWORKS 2019. |
These rows apply the SOLIDWORKS host filter. Apply the official Windows filter next.
Windows 11 Is the Break at HSMWorks 2027
HSMWorks 2027 supports Windows 11 64-bit only. HSMWorks 2026 through 2023.2.1 officially support Windows 10 and Windows 11, while the sold 2022.3 and 2021.3.1 generations list Windows 10 64-bit.
| Windows | Officially supported sold HSMWorks builds |
|---|---|
| Windows 11 64-bit | 2027, 2026, 2025.1, 2024.1, 2023.2.1 |
| Windows 10 64-bit | 2026, 2025.1, 2024.1, 2023.2.1, 2022.3, 2021.3.1 |
Use the documented OS range instead of assuming an older HSMWorks build is officially supported on a newer Windows release.
Three Release Breakpoints Change the Choice
Once host and Windows compatibility are settled, three offered-range breakpoints provide a concrete reason to change the baseline build.
| Breakpoint | Buyer condition | Practical consequence | Decision use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2027 vs 2026 | Your SOLIDWORKS year can use either generation. | 2027 requires Windows 11 and adds a small 2027 fix set, including a Parallel-toolpath calculation fix; 2026 supports Windows 10 and 11. | Stay with 2026 on Windows 10. On Windows 11, choose 2027 when its later build/fixes matter. |
| 2025/2025.1 generation | 2025.1 and an older sold build are both compatible. | The 2025 generation contains a concentrated Adaptive performance/gouge, Blend/Flow/multi-axis and stock-simulation stability cluster. | Pay for 2025.1 when that machining/stability cluster matters. HSMWorks 2026 is mainly security and HSM Edit maintenance rather than another broad machining generation. |
| 2022.3 vs 2021.3.1 | SOLIDWORKS 2020 or 2021 can use both, and both cost $45 here. | The 2022 generation adds packaged .cpsz post support and a newer 64-bit HSM Edit generation with a solid-simulation kernel that supports 5-axis. | Prefer 2022.3 at the same price because it carries the verified 2022 .cpsz/HSM Edit generation advantage; 2021.3.1 is the older baseline generation. |
The sold 2023.2.1 build also contains a serious file-saving fix for CAM data loss, but it is not a current choice breakpoint because the store already offers that fixed point release.
