PTC Creo Parametric uses a fully associative parametric 3D model for mechanical parts and assemblies, surfacing, sheet-metal design, multibody workflows, and model-based definition. PTC Mathcad Prime 12.0 is a separate product purchase and is not part of the Creo release offers below.
Associative Creo parts and assemblies preserve design intent
Creo Parametric builds mechanical parts and assemblies around a fully associative 3D model. Parametric and top-down assembly workflows keep design relationships connected so changes can propagate into dependent geometry and downstream product definition.
The same design intent can carry into drawings and model-based definition as the product changes, keeping part detail, assembly context, and product definition tied to the evolving model.
Surfacing, sheet metal, multibody design and MBD extend the same Creo model
Creo combines core part and assembly modeling with surfacing, sheet-metal design, multibody workflows, and model-based definition. These capabilities stay associated with the product model so geometry and definition can be revised within one mechanical design context.
This matters when the project depends on controlled design intent across detailed parts, assembly relationships, and downstream definition rather than isolated 3D geometry.
Confirmed modeling milestones across Creo 8–13
| Offered release family | Buyer-relevant modeling distinction |
|---|---|
| Creo 8 | Inseparable assemblies and modernized model-based definition symbols support embedded assembly workflows and improved documentation. |
| Creo 9 | Divide/Unify Surface makes it possible to define local surface regions for downstream annotations, loads, and appearance. |
| Creo 10 | Enhanced multibody Boolean, split, and trim operations strengthen part-level body control. |
| Creo 11 | Multibody workflows, improved Shrinkwrap, and enclosure-volume handling help simplify assemblies. |
| Creo 12 | Feature presets and assembly generation from multibody parts reduce repeated setup and improve reuse. |
| Creo 13 | Expanded core feature presets, Corner Blend, and 3D curve pattern tools extend modeling control. |
These milestones describe the major release families, not a promise that every extension or optional module is part of every offered license.
Native Creo models open forward across major releases, not backward
Older Creo Parametric models can be opened in newer Creo Parametric versions, but newer-version models cannot be opened in an older Creo version. Teams that exchange native Creo models should align on a major release before moving an active project forward.
Choose Creo Parametric when the project depends on an associative parametric mechanical model that drives parts, assemblies, and model-based definition. If a different mechanical CAD workflow is required, review AutoCAD Mechanical or the ProSoftStore FAQ before ordering.
To order, return to the available versions and prices above and select the release that fits your project.
