What is WorkNC?

WorkNC is an automation-first CAM system for mould, tool, die, and other complex 3D machining. Its strongest differentiator is the way it automates difficult programming tasks: Auto5 converts 3-axis toolpaths into 5-axis workflows, rest-material analysis supports re-machining, collision checking protects the machining environment, and parallel calculation helps process toolpath work efficiently.

WorkNC supports 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis machining workflows and is CAD-agnostic, making it a strong fit for shops that want to reduce manual toolpath editing on complex geometry while accepting model data from different design systems.

Why Buy WorkNC from Prosoftstore?

We offer permanent WorkNC activation with one-time purchase - professional CAM software for CNC programmers and manufacturing engineers without subscription fees. Full functionality included: automation-first complex 3D and mould/tool/die CAM, Auto5, 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis workflows, rest-material analysis and re-machining, collision checking, parallel calculation, and CAD-agnostic model intake.

Best suited for: mould, tool, and die shops and other complex-3D machining teams that want automation around 5-axis conversion, remaining-stock re-machining, collision checking, and parallel calculation instead of building every toolpath sequence manually.

WorkNC Key Features

  • Auto5 3-Axis-to-5-Axis Conversion: Converts existing 3-axis toolpaths into 5-axis toolpaths while accounting for the selected machine kinematics, helping use shorter, more rigid cutters and complete more work in one setup.
  • 3-Axis, 3+2, and 5-Axis Machining: Supports a progression from conventional 3-axis work through positioned and full 5-axis machining for complex parts and mould/tool/die geometry.
  • Rest-Material Analysis and Re-Machining: Detects or analyses remaining material after previous operations so subsequent tools can target stock that still needs to be removed.
  • Collision Checking and Verification: Checks the machining environment for collisions and machine/toolpath constraints before the program reaches the shop floor.
  • Parallel Calculation: Uses parallel or multicore computation to process multiple toolpath calculations and reduce waiting during complex programming work.
  • CAD-Agnostic Model Intake: Accepts model data from multiple CAD environments, allowing WorkNC to focus on machining automation rather than a single embedded design system.
  • Feature and Drilling Automation: Later listed WorkNC releases include feature-detection workflows that can automate drilling for recognized hole features.
  • Graphical Toolpath Editing: Later listed WorkNC releases include graphical toolpath editing for direct toolpath adjustments.
  • Waveform Roughing by Version: Waveform roughing is available in the listed WorkNC 2018 R2 and later releases.

WorkNC Applications

WorkflowWhere WorkNC Fits Best
Mould, Tool, and Die MachiningComplex cavities, cores, inserts, tooling, and die components where automated 3D machining preparation is a primary requirement.
Auto5 Conversion WorkflowsJobs that begin with proven 3-axis toolpaths but benefit from 5-axis positioning or motion to improve access and reduce setup constraints.
Rest-Material Re-MachiningComplex parts that require smaller follow-up tools to remove remaining stock after initial roughing operations.
Collision-Sensitive Complex MachiningParts where tool, holder, machine, or clamping interference must be checked before shop-floor execution.
Calculation-Heavy ProgramsLarge or complex toolpath sets that benefit from parallel/multicore calculation during programming.
Feature/Drilling AutomationOn later listed releases, parts with recognized hole features where drilling operations can be generated through feature-detection workflows.

CAD-agnostic WorkNC vs SOLIDWORKS-integrated CAM

WorkNC is CAD-agnostic. CAMWorks for SOLIDWORKS is integrated inside SOLIDWORKS and keeps design and machining data in the same SOLIDWORKS environment. If CNC programming must remain inside the SOLIDWORKS model, that host-integrated workflow is a different fit from WorkNC's multi-CAD CAM model.

Global Roughing and Global Finishing changes by WorkNC release

Release Material workflow change
WorkNC 2023.1 Dynamic Maximum Holder Profile was added to Global Roughing, and Contour Remachining gained steep/shallow area splitting.
WorkNC 2024.1 HxGN Global Finishing and Automated Global Roughing were added for finishing and multi-tool roughing workflows.
