What is Autodesk Revit?
Autodesk Revit is professional Building Information Modeling (BIM) software for designing, documenting, and coordinating building projects across all disciplines. It combines parametric 3D modeling with intelligent building components, enabling architects, structural engineers, MEP designers, and construction teams to create coordinated designs where changes in one view automatically update all related drawings, schedules, and specifications.
Revit is used by architects planning detailed building designs and 3D documentation, structural engineers designing concrete and steel systems, MEP professionals coordinating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing networks, construction managers planning sequences and identifying clashes, and BIM coordinators validating multi-discipline projects. The software supports complete project lifecycles from concept design through construction documentation and facility management.
Why Buy Autodesk Revit from Prosoftstore?
We offer permanent Autodesk Revit activation with one-time purchase - professional BIM software for building design and coordination without subscription fees. Full functionality included: parametric 3D modeling with intelligent building components, automatic generation of floor plans, elevations, sections, and schedules from a single model, seamless MEP system coordination with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical routing tools, structural detailing with rebar design and connection documentation, real-time multi-discipline collaboration, point cloud integration for as-built verification, generative design optimization, and complete family editing capabilities for custom building components.
Suitable for architectural practices designing commercial and residential buildings, engineering firms managing multi-discipline projects, structural consultants detailing complex reinforcement and connections, construction companies coordinating field operations, BIM specialists validating design coordination, small design studios managing projects independently, and construction administrators tracking as-built conditions and facility assets.
Autodesk Revit Key Features
- Parametric 3D Building Modeling: Create intelligent building components with dimensions and properties that control geometry automatically, so changes to walls, floors, or columns instantly update all dependent views and schedules.
- Automatic Floor Plans, Elevations, and Sections: Generate floor plans, exterior elevations, interior sections, and detail views automatically from the 3D model with associative linking to eliminate manual drafting and update conflicts.
- Live Scheduling and Quantities: Generate material schedules, room schedules, equipment lists, and door/window schedules that update in real-time as model elements are added or modified.
- MEP System Design and Coordination: Design mechanical ductwork, plumbing piping, electrical conduit, and equipment placement with coordinated sizing and connection tools to verify system integration before fabrication.
- Structural Detailing and Rebar Design: Detail concrete reinforcement with bar bending schedules, create connection details, design structural members, and document fabrication requirements with automated reinforcement drawings.
- Point Cloud Integration: Import laser scan point clouds to establish existing conditions and verify construction accuracy by comparing as-built conditions against design intent.
- Generative Design Optimization: Use generative design algorithms to explore multiple design solutions for workspace layouts, window placement optimization, and massing studies to validate design performance and occupant comfort.
- Phasing and Construction Sequencing: Define project phases including demolition and renovation, then apply phase filters to views and schedules to show construction sequences and temporary features across project timelines.
- Family Creation and Component Libraries: Create custom building families to represent manufacturer products, special assemblies, or project-specific components and reuse them across multiple projects with parameter-driven variations.
- Navisworks and IFC Interoperability: Export models to Navisworks for clash detection and 4D simulation, and import/export IFC files to share coordination data with project partners using different software platforms.
- Twinmotion Integration for Real-Time Visualization: Link Revit models directly to Twinmotion for photorealistic renderings and immersive 3D presentations that update automatically when design changes occur.
- Construction Cloud Collaboration: Upload projects to Autodesk Construction Cloud for team-based coordination, mobile access to documentation, and real-time coordination updates across distributed teams.

Additional workflows and product-specific details
Shared parameters let the same field definition be used across families, projects, tags, and multi-category schedules, but Revit does not automatically copy their values or setup from one family or project into another. Starting with Revit 2022, shared parameters can also be used in key schedules, so one key can apply a defined group of parameter values to model elements.
Custom families provide reusable, parameter-driven components. Heavy nesting and unnecessary 3D detail can increase file size and regeneration work, so family complexity is best matched to the geometry and information the project actually needs.
Project files, host dependencies and version selection
Start with the native Revit release used by the active project, client, or project team. Revit can upgrade an older model, but once the upgraded model is saved it cannot be opened in the earlier release. There is no native save-back for newer RVT, RFA, or RTE files. If a project must stay editable in a particular release, use that release.
| Buyer condition | Version implication |
|---|---|
| Existing RVT project or collaborators are fixed to a release | Choose the same Revit release when native editability must be preserved. |
| You need shared parameters in key schedules | Choose Revit 2022 or later. |
| You need the Toposolid site workflow | Toposolids start in Revit 2024. Revit 2025 adds direct excavation with intersecting floors, roofs, or toposolids; Revit 2026 adds further Toposolid refinements. |
Windows compatibility
After native project-file compatibility, use Windows as the next release filter.
| Windows | Eligible offered Revit releases |
|---|---|
| Windows 11 64-bit | Revit 2019-2027.3 |
| Windows 10 64-bit | Revit 2018-2026.4 |
| Windows 8.1 64-bit | Revit 2018-2019 |
| Windows 7 SP1 64-bit | Revit 2018-2020 |
Revit 2027 requires Windows 11.
When to choose another product
Revit can link separate RVT discipline models and align them with shared coordinates. Copy/Monitor can track selected linked elements such as levels and grids, while Interference Check can identify geometric conflicts within the Revit authoring workflow.
File-based worksharing uses a central model with local copies so several team members can edit one project and synchronize changes. Linked discipline models remain separate references, keeping architecture, structure, and MEP models independently owned while still allowing coordinated views.
Once coordination moves to federating many discipline files, running dedicated clash tests, managing clash sets, or reviewing construction sequencing, Navisworks Manage is the separate tool for that stage. A common desktop handoff is to prepare discipline-specific 3D views in Revit, export NWC files, and aggregate them in Navisworks for clash detection.
