What is Autodesk Fabrication CAMduct?
Autodesk Fabrication CAMduct is the manufacturing-focused Fabrication application for nesting ductwork and producing NC output for supported cutting workflows.
It is intended for ductwork manufacturers, sheet-metal fabrication shops, and mechanical contractors moving fabrication jobs from duct geometry into nesting, machine output, labels, and shop-floor production.
Capabilities and workflows
CAMduct prepares ductwork for manufacturing with specification-driven parametric rectangular, round, and oval components. It combines sheet-metal and linear nesting with material-specific nesting parameters, then writes machine-ready NC output through post processors.
Bar-code and QR-code data can be added to labels and worksheets for production identification. This keeps the core CAMduct job focused on moving fabrication data into nested sheets, NC output, and shop-floor production rather than on drawing-office detailing or estimating.
Project files, host dependencies and version selection
CAMduct uses VPL post processors to translate machine-control instructions for cutting controllers, while DPL files are used with supported decoilers. The controller and post processor must match the equipment that CAMduct is expected to drive.
Some machine and manufacturer configurations require equipment-specific post-processor development and validation. Verify the exact cutter or decoiler controller and its CAMduct post processor before purchase when direct machine output is part of the required workflow.
